Shaft marked on Geological Survey map (SW of Pump House at end of access road off Cobblecrook Place, Alva). This shaft accessed 19th century room-and-pillar workings in the Alloa Splint Coal under the N margins of the River Devon, shown on mine plan S4743 (see refs).
