Mine (Ironstone & Coal), mid-19th cent.
Site of buried shaft. Labelled as 'Old Pit (Ironstone)' on OS map of 1866 (surveyed 1859), & air shaft on 1896 Ed. Mine plan S4596 shows this as an air pit set into the W side of the Sunnybraes No.1 Mine adit [site #11214].
