West portal of active railway tunnel on the Argyle (or Glasgow Central) Line (eventually passing under Argyle Street). The Canning Street tunnel runs under Canning Street (now part of London Road) in the east end of Glasgow and extends from NS 60342 64207 (former Glasgow Green Station) to NS 60737 63992 (Bridgeton Cross), part of the Argyle Line.
The track level is approximately 15 m below the road level aboveoriginal portal was straight across at 90 degrees to the track but the tunnel was extended when London Road was widened.

Notes: Canning Street is named for George Canning, Prime Minister of Great Britain, who died in 1827. It had previously been known as Barrowfield Road, being the highway to the manor of that name. Barrowfield Toll Point and Barrowfield Mill were located east of Bridgton Cross.
Given coordinates are for the entrance/western exit to the Canning Street Tunnel.
