Shaft location (presumably covered) in woodland, beside junction of two pathways.

These comprised the 'new colliery' phase of the Blairhall Colliery that originally primarily extracted ironstone (see database entry #8145). These were sunk by the Coltness Iron & Coal Company to the NW of original complex in 1911. The Colliery was taken over by the NCB in 1947 before it's closure in 1969. At its maximum it employed 1058 people.
