Mines (limestone), sunk pre-1859.
Mine labelled on 1864 OS map as an active 'Limestone Pit', and geol. survey map as 'CM. Lst. at 25 fms' [Calmy Limestone at 46m]. Site now in woodland (upon remnant bing that is visible in field S of Cumbernauld Road dual-carriageway).
An older neighbouring pit is present a short distance to the W [database site #8179]. An outline of the workings' southern margin, suggesting that the worked area was extensive, is shown on the abandonment plan for the Garnkirk fireclay workings (AP3408).
Alternative Names: None recorded.
Notes: 8 fig. coordinates derived from OS georef' tool (using geol. survey map).
