Mine (fireclay), short-lived during early 1900s.
Shown as 'Store Pit' on geol. survey map, indicating that it encountered both the Garnkirk Fireclay band at 20 fms [36m]. Post dates the Old Pit & High Pit, and probably reflects a proximal clay source on the grounds of the Garnkirk Fire Clay Works during its final stages.
The shaft is now buried beneath an auto yard in Woodhead Industrial Estate.
Alternative Names: Garnkirk Fire Clay Works
Notes: Absent from both 1859 & 1898 25" OS maps, with abandoned remains shown on 1910 version (by which time Fireclay Works had become the Saracen Tube [Iron] Works).
8 fig. coordinates derived from OS georef' tool (using geol. survey map).
