Mine (Ironstone), 19th Century.
Treated shaft located at large grassy / overgrown mound approx. 80 m wide, probably a spoil heap associated with the mine.
Alternative Names: Oakley No.2 Pit?
Notes: Marked as 'Old Shaft' on 1914 OS map, and "60fms" coal pit on Fife Pits map. However, the geological survey map states "BB.I at ?60fms" [Blackband Ironstone at 110m], suggesting that this was an ironstone pit.
Only nearby trial pits shown on 1856 edition.
BGS states name of Oakley No.2 Pit (ref. 182165), although they also apply the same name to another site (ref. 182168) further N.
