Mine (Coal), 18th or 19th cent.
Site of infilled / treated adit that was driven into the brae immediately N of Torryburn.
"The few records of old workings at Torry and Crombie (18th - early 19th century) are vague and incomplete... At Tinian, Low Torry, the 'Four Foot' and 'Six Foot' seams corresponded approximately to the coals now referred to as the Torry Four Foot and the Jewel (Lochgelly Splint)." [Fife Pits]
Two seams, the "Torrie Four Feet" and "Torrie Six Feet", were wrought by mines driven into the brae-side at the back of Tinian Crescent.
Alternative Names: None recorded.
Notes: Given coordinates derived from BGS GeoIndex. MRA map places the adit portal further downslope.
