Yoker Burn (Dumbarton Road Culvert Inlet)

Dumbarton Road, Yoker, City of Glasgow (Dumbartonshire).

Culvert inlet on the line of the Yoker Burn. Probably now incorporated in a larger culvert

Alternative Names: None recorded.

Notes: Probably originally a ford and later a small bridge on the boundary between Yoker and Clydebank but once the road became a major route the burn would have been culverted. There has been a public house next to the stream since at least the mid-19th century. The current building (called the Lovat) is relatively modern.

The Yoker Burn between Dumbarton Road and the London & North Eastern Railway meandered as far west as Mill Road before passing under the railway as far west as the sewage pumping Station (see Yoker Castle). The culverted burn probably now takes a more direct route
