Mines & Shafts (Ironstone, & coal).

Given coordinates are for an old coal shaft beside an ironstone mine, as depicted on the 1897 OS 25" map. This map also shows several crags alongside both banks of the Avon Water in which there are at least 29 adits (according to the MRA map) between approx [NS 7583 4774] to [7636 4799].

Several of the adits along this section are open (as seen in video from 2023), whilst others have been concreted up.

Alternative Names: Sodom Hill Mines

Notes: The ironstones are interbedded with coals in this geological sequence, hence entry into the low adits are not recommended.
