Mines (Ironstone).
Two early ironstone pits marked on S side of the Bellow Water, N of Wallacetown (1860 OS map). A clay pit is also marked to the SE; probably opencast and now infilled under field.

Notes: Marked as 'Old Ironstone Pits' on 1860 OS map. Non-annotated shaft shown on geol. survey map (used for given coordinates using OS georef. tool). Absent from MRA map.
Site was just N of Wallacetwon Cottage (now demolished).
