An intertidal tunnel runs about 26 m from this entrance - on the NE side of Round (or North) Reeva. It is aligned about 316 degrees (NW). At the end, it meets a cross tunnel as the trunk of a 'T'. The SW arm is depicted (OS) as going to an entrance on the NE east side of the geo. The NE arm is said to go to the north side of the headland (see Report 1145).
Image from clifftop at inner end of geo shows large rift heading NW along the northern side. Information from N. & S. Thomson indicates there is probably a tunnel running northward to the NE side of the peninsula. This would give a passage length of ~140 m. [Report 1145]
Alternative Names: NS20
Notes: An attempt has been made to put together an integration of various information sources to produce a whole picture. There are a number of gaps which mean that assumptions have had to be made. One is that N & S Thomson went into this tunnel and saw daylight to their right (NE). NE seems likely in view of the angles on the OS and those reported for NS58 in report 1145. But Report 1145 says nothing of daylight on their left (SW). A NE tunnel would arrive very close to NS58(W). But there is no word of such a tunnel in the description of NS58, and also no mention of another cave entrance NW of NS58(W) - the other possibility. See the Pastmap Aerial marked up to show a tunnel running to a so far unknown N entrance NW of NS58(W). N Feilden Jan 26.
The length given above assumes only the tunnels between this entrance and Round Reeva Cave (west entrance).
The unknown north entrance is shown at HZ 20104 71061. This would give a total tunnel length of 138 m - which happens to agree with the ~140 m suggested in Report 1145.
More precise information and photos would be welcome.
