"A high ridge of rocks, extending from the base of the cliff to high water mark. bored through for a passage for cattle &c." is the description in the OS Namebook for "Bore Stone".

This makes it possible to move easily across the whole length of Strathlethen beach at any state of the tide.

The arch is aligned about S by E.

Notes: Access: a little away E from the cliff path to Dunottar from the war memorial, then down the W side of the beach.
