This is a way up for those trapped on the beach between headlands by the tide - and a way down also.

It is, in climbing terms a 'chimney' formed as a vertical parallel sided narrow slot in the cliff. It has a lower rope with two foot loops and an upper knotted rope.

'Lum' is a Scots word meaning 'chimney'.
