Ironstone / Clayband Pit (19th Century).
Located in re-landscaped field area, NW of infilled quarry.

Shown as "Ironstone Pit" with building and dedicated mineral rail line on 1865 OS 6" map.
At least 73 fathoms [133 m] deep.
Pit No.8 (not shown on 1914 25" or 1858 6" OS maps, but noted on geological map) located 35 m to SSW of Pit No.4. Pit No.8 used for ironstone and coal.
Located c.400 m SW of Blair Iron Works (demolished).
