Ironstone and Fireclay? Pit (19th Century).
Extensive blackband ironstone workings with shaft located near northern extremity. Extended S to ~[NS 2802 4847] by former site of Linncraigs, and met Riddance Pit workings to the E, an axial distance of c. 1km. Much of the ironstone seam is separated by 'greenstone' [whin] intrusions. See abandonment plan (in refs) for detailed extent.
Shaft site now buried below grassland beside SW end of low but extensive bing surface structure S of Langlands Farm.
