Ironstone Pit (19th Century).
Part of an extensive amalgamated complex of blackband ironstone workings that measures c. 1.3km from E (at West Mains) to W and comprises workings from Kilbirnie pits No.13, 21, 24 & 27. See abandonment plan in refs for extent, which show survey years of 1849-62 (mostly 1850s).
