Alternative Names: Broomfield Ironstone Pit
Notes: Shown as 'Old Pit (Ironstone)' beside railway line on 1864 6" OS map, but absent from c.1915 edition where area is occupied by the (old) Broomfield football ground. However, Geol. Survey map states 'K at 60 fms' [Kiltongue Coal at 110m], KC being deeper than the BB ironstone.
'No 1 Shaft' name and depth noted on MRA website. Mine treated in 1994.
