Mine (Ironstone), mid-19th Century.
Site now in corner of woodland. An additional un-named ironstone pit shaft is/was located c. 50m to the N. OS map survey dates indicate that this mine was operational in 1860, but abandoned by 1894. Shaft now situated in strip of woodland separating worked fields.
No.12 Pit was situated along SE margin of worked ironstone area, whilst Pits No.15 & No.16 were located at N & NW extremities, respectively.
