Mine (fireclay), 1964-75.
Extensive grid-like mine complex extending N-S from roughly NW of Standhill to E of Pottishaw Farm. The two neighbouring drift mine entrances (No.1 & No.2) were located approx midway along the E side of the complex by the given coordinates. See abandonment plan (in links) for detailed layout.
Replaced the Northrigg No.7 Pit [Site #8228], extracting fireclay, blaes and other refractory minerals / brick -making materials. The shaft(s) have been treated and the site occupied by a car park in an industrial estate on Pottishaw Road.

Notes: Operated by United Fireclay Products Ltd, abandoned in 1982.
Adits / shaft currently under the car park of the Aldi regional office (based on MRA map).
Then-active workings shown on 1971 NG map.
