Mine (Limestone), pre-1874.
Oldest pit of the Castlecary Lime Works complex, now conjoined with the works of No.2 Pit and linked to the Castlecary Pit workings just N of the railway (c.430m between shafts). The extent of the workings is shown on the abandonment plan for the Castlecary Pit (see refs).

Notes: Given coordinates derived from BGS GeoIndex. MRA location places the shaft site as being buried at the end of a cul-de-sac, between houses of 18 & 20 Castlecary Road.
