Mine (Ironstone), 19th Century.
Axis of mine is c. 0.3 km long, although the composite length of the various branching roads through 'old waste' will be considerably more (see abandonment plan in refs). The mine pre-dates 1868, and was abandoned by Merry & Cunninghame in 1877. Limestone quarries and a coal drift mine were located beside / in the glen to the N.

Notes: Marked as blackband ironstone (16" at 20 fms [37m]) on geol. map, yet not shown on regional blackband abandonment plan (in refs) despite 'No.1 Pit' being shown.
Mined an 18" blackband seam.
