Mine (Fireclay), 19th Century.
"Established to supply the Calderbank Steel Works with fireclay and firebricks (Note - The Monkland Iron and Steel Works are shown on the 1859 map. These were detailed as the Calderbank Steel Works by 1897 so these Fireclay Works appeared to have supplied the Monkland site prior to it being the Calderbank site.)" [SBH]
