Mine (Ironstone & Coal), mid-19th Century.
Abandonment plan (see refs) shows N-S trending blackband ironstone workings from approx [NS 7698 6359] to [NS 7705 6321]. Dates on AP show years 1862-64. Level drawing roads (subsurface) linked the ironstone workings to Faskine No.6 Pit. Shaft site now occupied by woodland.

Notes: Given 8 fig. NGR based on pit location shown on AP, beside former kink in road (visible on 19th Cent. OS maps). BGS GeoIndex lists location as [NS 77053 63441].
Marked as 'Coal & Ironstone Pit' on 1864 OS map. Geol. Survey map states Kiltongue Coal at 50 fms [91m]; Kiltongue Coal occurs deeper than ironstone seams.
