Mine (Ironstone & Limestone).
Treated shaft buried below area of woodland, S of Hillhouse Gate. Worked NW to Crawfordwalls (undermined) by 1882, operated by Coltness Iron Company. Clayband ironstone workings contiguous with wasted workings from adjacent ironstone pits (line of Kilncadzow Road formed NE limit, probably due to land ownership rights).
