• The 1st Edition OS does not show a cave here, but it does show 'Bell House' aligned to indicate that 'Bell House' is at the S end of the inlet.
• The OS Namebook for Parish of Gamrie, Banffshire has: 'Bell House - A large cavern formed by over-hanging cliffs, Situated on the Sea Shore, east of Cowper's Craig.' There does not appear to be any cavern in the normal meaning of the word. The cliff on the E side is very much overhanging - see photo 5.
• Photo 1 looking roughly SE at the lower part of the cliff at the SE side of the inlet. This entrance is obliquely on the right. The unconformable contact between the Gardenstown conglomerate above and the Macduff Formation metasediment below can be clearly seen in the middle of the frame. On the right it is partly masked by some remarkable flowstones, including a large stalactite. See photos 4, 4a below. 29/8/25.
• Photo 2 entrance from not quite in line on 29/8/25. Tide level 3.1 m ACD.
• Photo 3 entrance a bit more in line. It was possible to see inside by eye more than has come out in this photo. 29/8/25.
• Photo 4 looking up at the two prong stalactite. Estimated 1.5 to 2m long by eye. It appears to be fed from the contact between conglomerate above and metasediment below. 29/8/24
• Photo 4a zoomed version of photo 4 showing the big double pronged stalactite.
• Photo 5 looking about NE at Bell House north cave obliquely, from just outside the south cave. It shows that the congloerate cliff is overhanging rather a lot. 29/8/25.
