Mine (Ironstone), 19th Century.

Shaft is located by the W end of mineral railway (now demolished) and close to SW margin of slateyband workings which connected to Pit No.9. The No.8 workings extended over 0.6 km to the NW dipping with a gradient of 1 in 14, and c.200 m to the SE.

Shaft site is now occupied by wasteland, below vegetation beside fork in track.

Notes: Operated by William Dixon Ltd, and abandoned in 1879.

Abandonment Plan states depth of 125 fathoms (228.6 m).
