Mine (Ironstone & Coal), mid 19th c.

No.6 shaft, now buried under shrubland on N bank of Monkland Canal, accessed dook drawing roads which extended S to ironstone workings on S of the Calder Water (survey dates from 1859-60, see abandonment plan in refs). Palacecraig No.3 Pit was an adjacent but separate shaft to the W, sunk to the Splint Coal.
