The coal pit is not shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1978), but there is a spoil tip depicted to the N. [Trove.scot]
Alternative Names: Birnie Pit
Notes: First edition of the 25" OS map, 1861, shows the coal pit and shaft just north of Birnie (a house or farm?), east of the mineral railway.
