Mine shaft, abandoned pre-1861 & treated/capped in 1996. Vegetated remnants of bing still visible in field.

A disused shaft, situated to the N of a railway cutting, is depicted on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1979). What may be disused workings are depicted at this location on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Perth and Clackmannan 1866, sheet cxxxiv). [Trove.scot]

Alternative Names: Arns Well Pit?, Blackfaulds [Old Shaft]

Notes: Shown as 'old pit (no information)' on mine plans for Devon Colliery which post-dates this pit.

Probably not "Arn's Well Pit". A faint arrow can just be seen on the 1926 Geological Survey map from the left side of the name "Arn's Well" leading to the shaft at Bankhead Quarry [NS 90074 96034].
