Shaft marked on Geological Survey map, on N margin of the old line of Berrylaw Road. Labelled as old coal pit on OS 6" 1st ed map, & shown to be on the Urquhart Day Level / connected to the James Pit [site #7476] on mine plan RHP91.
Alternative Names: None recorded.
Notes: The old line of Berrylaw Road ran E-W from William Street, south of Colton. It is now a minor farm access track. The current Berrylaw Road follows the former quarry access road from Colton to just east of Berry Law before turning south past North Urquhart Farm to the A994 at Urquhart Farm.
