Ironstone mine, site of.
Probably dates from the 19th Century, but shaft now buried below worked agricultural field.
Alternative Names: None recorded.
Notes: See 'Forth Ironworks No.1 Pit' (Site #7426) for main entry.
Marked as Ironstone Pit on 1856 6" OS map. This pit does not appear in the abandonment plans of the Inzievar blackband ironstone works, hence this may be an older (early/mid 19th Century, or older), or perhaps a trial mine for the neighbouring 1850s Over Inzievar workings.
Located just NW of Fernwoodlea Lodge. The pit to the N is probably termed 'Forth Ironworks No.1 Gin Pit' to differentiate it from this un-numbered shaft.
