Earliest OS maps show a surface stream or ditch continuing south along the east side of Peel Glenn Road to a field boundary (now the junction with Summerhill Road). The surface burn made a 90 degree turn here but once culverted this may have been eased into a sweeping curve.
The c. 2020 replacment culvert turns this corner about 100m upstream which would have left this earlier and smaller culvert almost redundant. Although it would still carry surface water from the road above it would no lomnger carry the water from the Garscadden Burn.
