Lammylair Cave

A beached rift cave which has water in a little way at HWS. It is on the N side of Lammylair, and, according to 25in OS, faces E by S. It is formed in a lamphrophyre dyke. The rift leans about 30 degrees towards S.

Notes: Access: by sea near HW may permit a landing in the cave entrance - see photo 1.

OS Namebook for parish of Cruden Mr. Charles Alexander, Mr. John Alexander, Mr. James Paterson witness for Lammylair is "This name applies to a long creek or haven, and is sometimes called Todd Hole, it is situated on the north side of the Gray Mare."
1st Ed OS 25in shows this cave at the bottom of the sheet.
www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/crag.php?id=23828 says of the cliffs around the end of Lammylair: "Granite Slab sometimes used by climbers. North facing intimidating cliff, and an easier slab on the South East facing aspect on the opposite side of the inlet."
