Whale's Mou (S entrance)

The S entrance is intertidal and can be walked into a short distance at low tide.

Notes: Access: SW end from the beach where it is about 5 m wide, sloping at about 45 degrees and with a vertical height of about 15 m . NE end by sea.

Photo 3 closer still, near high tide. Note the gap under the top layer. This layer has been eroded away in the middle portion of the tunnel. See next photo.
Photo 4 taken after the previous photo, from the middle of the tunnel, looking W. Note the gaps between layers on the right (W) and up above. This is probably a place of intense wave action in a NE gale.
Photo 5 is an oblique view showing the S entrance, but also the top side of the cave roof. Note how a semicircular layer has been eroded from the middle part of the tunnel. Similar erosion has occurred on the inside, especially on the W wall, and also in the middle part of the tunnel. See photo 4.
