"A natural tunnel formed by the action of the Waves, through which the Sea enters into Eyemouth Creek." (1)
This tunnel goes through, what in plan looks like the bottom bar of an 'L' shaped cliff, into a basin about 60m square. The tunnel is 14 m wide at the sea entrance. The intertidal basin - Eyemouth Creek - has cliff on 3 sides and wave cut platform to the east. It looks as if it might be the remains of a collapsed cavern.
The deeper chanel outside follows beside the south side of the cliff - rather than going straight out in line with the tunnel.
Alternative Names: None recorded.
Notes: Access: by sea from Catterline harbour - best in top half of tide and moderate, or less SE quadrant swell.
Visible by land a) going along the shore from Catterline harbour or b) from the cliffs immediately N. Also c) from Todhead.
Sea entrance measured 16/10/25 by N Feilden.
