An upper intertidal, very wide mouth (23.6 m), low VR cave/rock shelter with a gravel beach. On E and W side are very undercut cliff faces, which continue some way W beyond this cave. The middle 9.6 m of the cliff-face is set back 4.6 m from the cliff line either side. It faces about NNE.
In terms of width it may be compared with CM2 and CM3 (below Cummingston).
Alternative Names: None recorded.
Notes: Access: In bottom half of tide, either W from Covesea village, or E from the old Coastguard lookout to a point near NJ 18513 70919 where the path goes W for 170 m or so to a lower path, from which you can go either way, but in this case E to the end of the beach, through CV2 and a bit further E.
