Mine (Ironstone & Coal), mid 19th Century.
Shaft now buried below playing field.
Alternative Names: Skaterig No.11 Pit
Notes: Geol. Survey map of 1910 states: "Old Pit 22 fms to L.P.BB.I" [40m to Lower Possil Blackband Ironstone]. Labelled as Ironstone Pit [active in 1858] on 1865 OS map. However, 1987 ed. indicates Knightswood Gas Coal at 51.8m (& Johnstone blackband at 41.3m). 2nd Ed 25" OS map suggests that the pit had been abandoned by 1894.
Given coordinates (for shaft) derived from BGS GeoIndex.
