South entry to supratidal sea cave or natural arch. Located east of crawl over boulders (not accessible at high tide) leads into a low, wide chamber towards Dark Cave. At low tide there is a passage through the headland to the NE. The S entrance faces 240 (SW by W) and is 3.3 m wide.
A straight forward walking-sized tube through the headland, which turns nearly 60 deg left at about 11 m in. From there you can see to the N entrance (see separate entry). A low 'squeeze' at the north-westerly side of the cave enters a wide and muddy section of flat-out passage that continues for 7m before becoming too tight.
Alternative Names: Arbroath Cave [23]
Notes: Access: Coastal path from the E end of Victoria Park and then down to the shore in S Carlingsheugh Bay. Or, from Auchmithie and down the path in the middle of the S part of Carlingsheugh Bay.
Length measured by Iain Greig 18/8/20. Alt adjusted to 5 m jcrae
(about 5 m above low tide level).
The N entrance is at NO 67227 42842.
