Cross Cave is actually three caves - each entrance is in open air.
Cross Cave (S) A quite short, alcove type, just supratidal. Perhaps, once the end of a longer cave, connected to the other tunnels, before the NS tunnel collapsed. The remains of the E wall are clearly visible. W = 6.5 m, dH (floor to apex) = 5.6 m.
Cross Cave (2) entry at NJ 48582 68530. A supratidal cave which runs initially W, and has a gently upsloping pebble floor. The effect is to reduce width and headroom until at L=23, one can crawl no further. The laser disto showed another 3m beyond this and the rock floor may well be much lower. Used by doves. L = 26 m, W = 5.4 m, dH = 5.3 m.
Cross Cave (3) SE entry at NJ 48584 68535; NNW entry at NJ 48574 68555. This is an upper intertidal tunnel which is just flooded at a 4.2 m tide. Swimmable, but a bit low to paddle into. Roughly triangular section at SE end. Axis is 335 (ca NNW) L = 22 m, W_SE = 4.4 m, dH_SE = 2.9 m. No measurements of NNW entrance.
Alternative Names: None recorded.
