"Near the cave of the Port Hill is a curious small cave called the Rotten's Cave" (K'nocker)
An upper intertidal cave in the N side of Port Hill.
It is unusual in that, unlike most other caves to its E, (Bow Fiddle, Langet, Dovat, Whale's Mou), the E wall is about vertical, ceiling horizontal and only the W wall is sloped with the prevailing dip. This is because the cave is formed on a vertical fault/crack running 050. A gutter-like narrow bottomed channel follows this track from the wave cut platform outside, going inside until covered by the boulder beach.
Alternative Names: None recorded.
Notes: "A boy fell from the top of it in 1850, was fearfully mangled but escaped with his life." (K'nocker)
Access: By land from SE side of harbour, climb round W end of Port Hill.
By sea: landable near HW on beach just to W of entrance.
