Pit sunk pre-1790 & abandoned prior to 1853. Treated shaft, situated on the Fordell Day Level, now buried below field.

Notes: Marked as 'Old Coal Pit' on OS 1st Ed. map. Named 'Engine Pit' on Geological Survey map, although this does not match mine plan (S4670) of 1790 that names this as 'Blue Pit' & shows the Engine Pit as being further N [see site #11610].
