The tunnel is aligned with the NE/SW tunnel of Trough Cove on the other side of Trelung Bay.
This S end has a sill at NO 87960 81525 which is dry in the bottom 2/3 of the tide, preventing passage at that point.
The British Geological Survey shows the rift as a fault - see below.
