Probably [at least in part] a late Victorian brick or stone-built culvert [not investigated] on the line of the Devol Burn passing under Brown Street and Glenburn Street, also the Wemyss Bay junction on the Port Glasgow to Greenock railway (on the Glasgow to Gourock line). The modern upstream inlet is a gated concrete box section dropping below the road but it is likely the original construction was an open channel alobetween two narrow roadways (Chapelton Street and Glenburn Street) passing through a single bridge under the railway.
