A fenced enclosure around the sluice where the Devol Burn drops to pass below Russell Way at the north side of the B&Q carpark, Port Glasgow. Modern concrete culverts to south and north along the line of the Devol Burn allow the stream to pass under the carpark and two major roads to the Clyde. The sluice also forms a barrier to the tidal waters of the Clyde dropping the level of the Devol Burn to below the high tide mark.
