Mine (Ironstone).
Probably early 19th Century, but possibly late 18th c.
Alternative Names: None recorded.
Notes: Labelled as 'No.1 Pit' on geol. survey map, but absent from 1st & 2nd Ed. OS maps. The geol. survey map also labels a No.2 pit a short distance to the W, where a spoil bing is present on the OS 1st Ed. map (1865).
