Mine (Ironstone & Coal), 19th Century.

Shaft site buried below either path or grassy area in front of residential flats. Sunk pre-1857, abandoned prior to 1893. Shaft was located at N extremity of extensive longwall complex that extended SW under Craigend Close & joined with workings of Skaterigg No.14 [site #8082] to the SE.

Notes: Geol. Survey map states 40 fms [73m] to Lower Possil Blackband Ironstone. Mine plan shows 41.5 fms to Gas Coal.

Labelled as Ironstone Pit on 1865 OS map, & 'old shaft' with (now-landscaped) bing on 1896 Ed. Named as Jordanhill Pit on mine plan 14714[b], & Greenlees Pit on 14714[a] . Given coordinates derived from BGS GeoIndex.
