Mine (Ironstone), pre-1863.

Shaft sunk to blackband ironstone at depth of 41 fms [75m]. Situated at E side of relatively extensive longwall mine complex that wrought ironstone approx 1850s/60s. Shaft now buried below tarmac of retail parking area.

The extent of workings was in large part dictated by the boundary between the lands of Knightswood & Jordanhill. They underlie the eastern areas of Warden Road / Priory Road & intervening part of GWR, with northernmost, southermost & westernmost extremities located at ~[NS 5404 6936], [NS 5411 6905] & ~[NS 5389 6912], respectively.
