Mine (Ironstone), c.1860s

Shaft sunk to Johnstone Clayband Ironstone at depth of 179m. Upper Garscadden blackband ironstone & Garibaldi clayband ironstone seams encountered, & probably worked, at 74m & 100m, respectively. Shaft probably buried under residential graden on NW corner of junction of Kestrel Rd / Hermitage Ave.

Notes: Abandoned with only big depicted by 1896 (as shown on 25" OS map). Absent from 1st Ed OS map (1860s).
