Trial (Lead).
Covered shaft (on corner of Church St) to relatively short trial level that is shown on Mine Plan (SP1751) and had a now-infilled adit mouth c. 50m S at approx. [NS 8760 1309]. The trial probably attempted to work the Goldscaur Vein.
"Goldscour Vein lies a few fathoms east of Cove Vein, runs nearly parallel with it, and under the upper part of that row of houses generally called Goldscour Row. The Smelting Company opened up this vein by cutting a drift from the side of the Wanlock Burn; but it has been neglected since that period." [History of Sanquhar]
Alternative Names: Goldscour
Notes: Given coordinates are for shaft.
